CDS Eligibility 2024 - Qualifications, Age Limit, Physical Requirement

Candidates’ eligibility for CDS (Combined Defence Services) includes nationality, educational qualification, age limit, etc. If a candidate is found ineligible in any criteria, the candidate will not be allowed to appear for the exam.

The Union Public Service Commission release the CDS (Combined Defence Services) eligibility criteria. Candidates not meeting the eligibility criteria will be debarred from the examination.

CDS (Combined Defence Services) age limit

It is important to ensure that the candidate must fit the designated eligibility criteria for the CDS (Combined Defence Services) age limit 2024, as it will determine whether the candidate will appear for the exam or not. IAFA (Indian Air Force Academy)

      The candidate’s age must be midst 20 to 24 years of age as of 1st January 2024.

IMA & INA (Indian Military Academy) and (Indian Naval Academy)

Candidates should not have been born later than 1st January 2005, and not earlier than 2nd January 2005.

    

OTA (Officers Training Academy) 

  Candidate must not be born later than 1st January 2005, and not earlier than 2nd January 1999.

CDS (Combined Defence Services) Age Relaxation

In the CDS exam, under CDS eligibility criteria some candidates can get benefit from age relaxation norms. Candidates having a valid commercial pilot license can get relaxation on the upper age limit of up to 26 years.

CDS (Combined Defence Services) Eligibility for females

Interested female candidate who fits into the CDS eligibility criteria can fill out the application form.

Eligibility criteria for females are mentioned below:

  • Female candidates who want to appear for the exam should not have been born later than 1st January 2005 and not earlier than 2nd January 1999.

  • The minimum height required under CDS eligibility criteria is 152cm.

  • All the other eligibility criteria for females remains the same as for male candidate.

CDS (Combined Defence Services) Nationality 

If any candidate must not fit under the CDS nationality criteria, then the candidate will not be allowed to appear for the exam. The Nationality requirements for CDS are mentioned below:

  • A citizen of India, or

  • A subject of Nepal, or

  • A subject of Bhutan, or

  • An Indian-origin person who has relocated to Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Malawi, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam.

  • A refugee from Tibet who came to India before 01/01/1962, for settling in India permanently.

CDS (Combined Defence Services) Qualification

Union Public Service Commission has also released eligibility criteria for minimum qualification to appear for CDS. CDS eligibility for minimum qualification is mentioned below:

  • A candidate who selected the Navy, Army, or Air Force, must bring their graduation certificate to the SSB interview.

  • Candidates in the last year of graduation who want to apply are eligible but they shouldn’t have any debts, such candidates must provide a valid certificate at the time of course start.

CDS (Combined Defence Services) Medical Eligibility 

Candidates who want to apply for the examination should be medically fit to be eligible for a job. Every candidate must ensure that he is medically fit so that any medical conditions cant hinder his journey.

Candidates will not be allowed to appear for the exam with certain medical conditions mentioned below:

  • Undersized chest

  • Piles

  • Conditions of Overweight/Underweight

  • Deviated Nasal Septum

  • Varicocele

  • Gynaecomastia 

  • Hydrocele/Phimosis

  • Wars (Ears)

  • Tonsillitis

CDS (Combined Defence Services) Physical Eligibility

Eligibility criteria for CDS Physical standards are mentioned below:

  • Their mental and physical health should be good and they must not have any disability which will interfere with the performance of duties.

  • Candidates shouldn’t have any history of mental breakdown.

  • There should be no evidence of bodily defects, weak constitutions, or underweight. The candidate should not be overweight.

  • The height in CDS eligibility for male candidates is 157.5 cm (157cm for the Navy and 162.5 cm for Air Force). For the female candidate, the minimum CDS height requirement is 152cm.

  • The chest should be well-developed for male candidates.

  • The BMI (Body Mass Index) should be below 25.

Ans. <25 years unmarried or >25 years, both married and unmarried. 

Q2. Which Stream is Best for CDS?

Ans. Candidates can be from any stream to apply for CDS but to apply for Air Force and Navy, candidates must have passed 10+2 in mathematics and physics.

Q3. What is the Eligibility for OTA?

Ans. To apply for OTA candidates should have been born before 1st January 2004 and after 2nd January 1998. Candidates must have passed graduation from a recognized board or university.

Q4. Is Maths Compulsory for CDS?

Ans. You do not need to study mathematics if you apply for Officer’s Training Academy. There are only English and General Knowledge questions in the examinations.

Q5. Is There a Physical Test for CDS?

Ans. Yes, there are medical examinations conducted by the Board of Service Medical Officers.
